Video Quality: Envivio has an in-house team of compression and mobile networking experts who develop the encoding and transport engines for all of our encoder products. Our Mobile Series encoders have been optimized to provide the most efficient IP transport and the highest quality video at the low resolutions and frame rates required for mobile TV. We support a full range of video and audio codecs to ensure that we deliver the highest possible quality on any mobile device and a wide range of transport protocols addressing the requirements of both Mobile Broadcast and Mobile Streaming.
Service Reliability: Part of the process of delivering a high Quality of Experience for mobile TV users is to ensure that the service is always available. This is not always the case with many of today's deployments which use encoders based on unstable PC platforms and which have no system monitoring or automated redundancy. As part of its mobile TV headend solution Envivio provides automated M:N redundancy switch over using its 4Manager video headend management More and more operators who had deployed software based encoding solutions are moving over to a more reliable, professional grade mobile TV delivery platform from Envivio.
System Interoperability: Over the last five years Envivio has developed partnerships with all of the major system component suppliers in the mobile TV ecosystem. These components include: streaming servers; IP encapsulators; electronic service guides; DRM and CA systems as well as mobile handsets. Our comprehensive interoperability testing, and the fact that we have actual deployments with most of these partners, means that all of the interoperability issues have already been resolved for Envivio's Mobile Series encoder products. This means fast, risk free deployments whatever the mobile TV standard might be.
Handset Playback: A key factor in guaranteeing that a mobile TV service has strong uptake is to ensure that the transmitted streams can be decoded reliably on a wide range of handsets. Envivio has strong, longstanding ties with software and hardware handset player suppliers as well as the handset manufacturers themselves, ensuring that our streams work with the vast majority of media enabled handsets on the market. Our encoders are used by many companies as a reference with which to check compliance with mobile TV encoding standards.

3GPP: Envivio has been delivering compression systems for 3GPP since 2003 when we teamed up with RealNetworks to power some of the world's first mobile TV deployments. Our 4Caster M2 and 4Caster M4 encoders support multi-profile output with a range of different codecs and resolutions to ensure the ultimate mobile TV experience over cellular networks. Our fully redundant hardware compression platform has been selected by several Tier 1 operators around the world including Orange in France for its Orange World mobile TV service.
DVB-H: Envivio compression systems power the majority of DVB-H trials and deployments currently operating around the world including Dream TV, Canal+ and Doordarshan. Our M2 encoder supports advanced statistical rate control to deliver the maximum number of channels in a given DVB-H bandwidth. We interoperate with a wider range of IP encapsulators, encryption systems and electronic service guides than any other manufacturer. The M2 is included within the solution blueprint of the vast majority of large system integrators offering end to end DVB-H solutions.
DVB-SH: Envivio's M2 encoder has been optimized for DVB-SH operation including support for higher mobile TV resolutions. Envivio was recently selected by Alcatel-Lucent and ICO to provide a compression platform for the trial launch of North America's first DVB-SH based service.
ISDB-T: Envivio's 4Caster B3 encoder fully supports both the Japanese and Brazilian ISDB-T 1seg standards for mobile TV. In 2005 MBCo in Japan deployed the world's first commercial Mobile Broadcast service using ISDB-T compliant encoders from Envivio. The B3 was recently selected by MTV Brazil and a number of other broadcasters for the launch of 1seg services in Saġ Paulo.
Custom Platforms: Envivio has delivered encoding solutions to several customers who have created their own unique mobile TV experience. Our in-house low level development capabilities make us a popular choice for such companies. One example of this is Canadian firm Kangaroo Media who offer an at-stadium mobile TV service called Kangaroo TV for events such as Formula 1, NASCAR, and the NFL.
